So, here I am, minding my own business when a dear friend of mine links me to her own blog. Henceforth known as K, this friend is writing of her philosophical journeys and studies. They're very good pieces. you can read those at blumeaniandglove.blogspot.com. I highly recommend them.
Now why am I here writing? Frankly, philosophy, while interesting is a field of study I've delved into too much and really could do quite well without anymore. Not that it's bad. I just want to write about something else.
Instead, here, I will write about what I am studying. History. I will write about how it affects our daily lives, how it has shaped us and what future outcomes it could leave us with. Forgive me if my posts are a bit satirical or just plain pesstimistic in nature. It's just the way I am.
I may also write about things I notice in people today, political issues, tea, scents and perhaps reviews of books. Mostly it will be history.
The subjects have not been decided upon yet, though likely I'll start with Herodotus just as my own history class did.
Now for an introductory on myself:
I am mundane. Argue this point all you will, friends, but there is very little about me that is extraordinary enough to be mentioned in history books. And as well all know, if your name can live on for centuries after you die, then you are not mundane. but if it cannot, then you are. That's all there is to it.
Scholars (until recently-silly modern social sciences) did not study the everyday life of Mr. Smithicus and his children and his pea garden and his goldfish and his office job. Scholars don't care about his political views (which he likely belched at his peers, wanting change, but not doing anything about it). He didn't change anything. He didn't write anything influential, change politics, art, music or entertainment. He didn't rule or fight in a brave battle or get condemned for believing in something out of the ordinary.
He will not be remembered.
I won't either. I'll strive for it, but there are no guarantees.
If you really want to learn more about my quirks and daily routine and whatever else, go here. I won't write about here, since it is my history blog.

That's it on me. Next week, probably next Tuesday, I will write more. I intend to write whenever I've had a history class. Please read and learn or not. In the end it's your choice.
